German drone maker Helsing has enlisted Japanese e-commerce and finance firm Rakuten ​to help finalise a deal to sell its unmanned systems to Japan's army, a spokesperson ‌for Rakuten said on Monday.

Rakuten Group is still rated 'Buy,' even though its reported second-quarter operating income was below expectations. The normalized Q2 2026 operating profit, adjusted for a one-time write-down, surged 318% year-on-year and represented a 7% beat. The fintech and mobile divisions were the standouts last quarter. The company has become earnings-positive again in Q2 2026, after 22 consecutive loss-making quarters.

Rakuten Group achieved its first quarterly profit in six years in the second quarter as it saw revenue growth across its three segments: Internet Service, FinTech and Mobile, the company said in a Monday (Aug. 10) press release.
